The MTC

The MTC is such a brotherhood I love it. I feel like it is a similar feeling to boot camp haha, but idk. Also after leaving you and walking to my gate, I had the thought "this is the greatest work you will ever do" it was so strong in my mind but I tried to ignore it for some reason and think well maybe not the greatest... what a mistake haha. I now know from being here that it truly is.

Our teacher, Brother Amanoo.

(An email from Gunnar in the MTC - June 17, 2015)
That made me break into tears hearing about Porters family... My heart and payers go out to his family. I know that the Plan of Salvation is true and that families our eternal. What a hard thing to have to endure in this life, I am beyond words. I am so grateful for my Savior Jesus Christ, he is so loving, he is there for us, he loves us and will get us through anything life throws our way. Gosh thats terrible. *Gunnar's friend Porter, who is serving a mission, lost his parents, a brother and sister in a plane crash. Such hard news :(

Family, the MTC is a wonderful place, I have been learning so much. It is very hard and the schedule is rigorous, but it is so so worth it :)
I am getting enough sleep now as well, haha. It was just that first night was crazy. Probably the longest day of my life:) I had a personal interview with President Robinson where we talked about my experience so far. The second night was the hardest night. I was hurting and missing home. I prayed to my Savior with all the fervor of my heart, and he gave me peace. It was a beautiful experience. I told President that, and he was so happy I got that answer, but also said that is textbook with most missionaries. The second night is the hardest, but it just gets better every night. I wake up, it's morning, and then all the sudden it's night time, haha, days just fly by now:) Our district is the Helaman District and it is the best one:) It includes me, Elder Edwards, Elder Adams, and Elder Gary, and a few others, but it is so great. Our leader is Elder Edwards. Man I love the guy. He is very inspiring and much like me. His family was poor growing up, but they had a lot of drive, created a business, and became very rich. He was home schooled and he started the business with his parents. It's some mlm, but he's also jacked and likes cross fit so we are really good buddies. We workout lifting polls and bricks. I'll have to send you a pic, its hilarious. The food here is amazing. I love it! mainly variations of chicken and rice, but man it's good stuff, not enough protein though. Luckily I got those bars:) I was able to speak in sacrament on faith in Christ. That was so great. E. Roberts, my companion, loves essential oils. It's hilarious, he thinks they are magic! I cured his headache and a bunch of other stuff. I had my teacher Bro. Amonoo try On Guard... it was the funniest thing in the world. He put like 5 drops in, got red in the face, and left the room bahahaha. I love the oils I use them all the time, for everything. Please send me oil uses, I don't think you sent me a card or anything, but I'd really like one. Look up on YouTube, LDS Congo singing Israel Israel God is Calling. IDK if anything will pop up, but we have elders from the Congo and it is amazing how they sing it. I was smiling so hard the whole time:) Another American said I look like the ideal missionary, right style, right build, it was funny:) Learned that Tema, the city I am in, is the closest city to the center of the earth? crazy huh! Tide sticks are the freaking bomb and so is bleach I use them all the time, so keep them coming! Elder Adams is always borrowing it, haha. I love you family. I'll try and reply to each email you sent me! This is just some general info:) I am having the most amazing time. Went to the temple today, it is the most beautiful place I've ever been besides Provo;) The wood work and everything is amazing. Also Elder Roberts is a really good guy. He is Nigerian. There are 3 different groups. There are ones who love money, ones who accept all, and fighters. There are no fighters here, and Roberts is one who accepts all. The fighters will attack you if you do the littlest thing. They always have a knife, and think killing brings them glory. Roberts says they stay far away from them, that is probably Nick's companion...
