I am really starting to enjoy my mission experience:) Each day I am able to focus more and more on the work and those stressful things like washing clothes budgeting money are all starting to fade away:) When we understand our purpose as missionaries, nothing else matters. This work is so important, to be caught up in how you look or what you say should be the last thing on your plate of things to do. All you need to do is devote your heart, might, mind, and strength to this work. haha. Now it sounds difficult, but when you just breath, do what is right, and follow the spirit; everything else seems to workout. Because this isn't your work, it is the Lord's, and he doesn't work by numbers and figures, brown slacks or blue slacks. He works through the inner workings of the heart and as missionaries if we are not focused on our investigators heart, how they our truly doing, what the spirit needs to tell them, we can in nowise find that success we desire!:)
This week really was wonderful though:) Mark (age 14) and Rennard (age 16) having been progressing very well and we had planned to baptize them this last Sunday the 30th. But to our new understanding from mission president, our investigators need to spend some more time coming to church especially those under age 18. So their baptism won't be untill the end of Sept if all goes well:) A sweet thing though, their father invited us to come to his farm on Saturday to weed. Its not easy work, not easy at all.. haha, but after he took us around his 6 different 10 acre farms picking sugar cane, all sorts of tangerines, oranges, coconuts, and all manner of fruits and veggies. It was so sweet:) Honestly, it was probably something you would imagine in a movie. Freshest oranges I have ever had! If you know doTERRA Wild Orange, that is the smell as you walk under the trees. It's fantastic:) Plus after he made us a big bowl of fufu! Even more exciting, he was so humbled we actually showed up he is going to give us time to teach him:) Service is a wonderful thing:) It's funny too because I only see him in torn clothing covered in dirt from working in the farm all day every day, but when we found out he had 6 coco farms we came to understand he is a very rich man, haha. I love those people that just work so hard and you would never know if they had money or not. He even said he is saving money to build a school for the children... What a honest man, I love it. Plus he has provided such a rich future for his prosterity. The Lord blesses those who are willing to get their hands dirty;)
We have a few problems with investigators so ready to be baptized and then we find out they are not married to their spouse... such is the case for Sis Mary and Sis Julie. Even if they have families and have been living together faithful for years, they still have to start that process of a legal marriage. It is very hard for them because their are many traditional things that slow the process, a big part is the bride price. Not easy. Even Sis Mary has stopped coming to church because we won't baptize her. An even bigger problem, all of the branch members got baptized with their families without getting married because the branch was so new and they didn't know any better. It's a hard part about life, it's not always fair in our perspective, but if we trust in the lord all will be well. He won't cheat us:)
It is week 11 in training which means the new missionary takes over baby! Haha, to the contrary of what most people thing, I'm actually pretty excited to take the lead on some things:) Should be fun:) I also get to instruct with my companion in district meeting tomorrow on charity, love, and humility. It should be very well:)
One last thought... The things I miss most are the small things...going to movies with friends and family, spending time in the mountains, eating food from anywhere in the world in a 5 mile radius lol. Don't take these things for granted because you may just find yourself yourself in a 3rd world country for two years;)
I love the Lord, I love the mission. It's so fun and I am so grateful for this gospel in my life. My testimony grows stronger each day. It is a roller coaster ride I think I can handle for 2 years:) Thank you for all your love and support. I will see you all next week!
Elder Bramwell tuning out!
That is Mark with the big bowl on his head. He is such a funny guy and has so much swag, haha. We really have to be careful with him. He's a ladies man, lol. |
*I don't know what this is, but if you say it is delicious, Yaw Asanka, I'll have to just take your word for it. :) |
