Life without the gospel... that's Wack.

August 24, 2015

Me sitting with Auntie Penny holding my arm. Sis Ophilia is in the background with her kids:)

This week I've been thinking a lot about the many experiences I've had and the many experiences I'm having in Ghana. Specifically when I went to India and now being in Ghana. I can tell you from the bottom of my heart, all of this, all of life, being alive, different countries, cultures, cannot be explained in any other way rather then there is a God and he has some sort of plan for us. I'm telling you having experienced what I have in my young years logically I have tried and tested and there is no other explanation then the Gospel of Jesus Christ is true doctrine. That there is a plan for each of us, and for everything not including us. It truly is wonderful, and on the spiritual aspect of my determination that evidence is overwhelming and like the facts cannot be explained in any other way then The book of Mormon is the word of God, and Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died and atoned for our sins.

Back to the week though:) I met a family, a very special family. There is a woman who lives about 1 hr 30 min walk on a trail through what they call the bush. I think I said before but my companion who is from Ghana has never been to a place like where she lives. He was taking tons of videos and pictures to show his friends he served in the "bush" lol. Her name is Sis Ophilia, she started coming to church with her children all on her own and nobody knows why really. We do though, she has been prepared. This week was the 3rd time visiting her. Every time we go she is soooo excited and feeds us amazing food, and it's so great. We just want to sit and rest lol. When we were going to visit her this week, it started to rain like crazy and so we were about to change our plans. But the rain stopped and we took the risk and began to walk. She didn't know we were coming, but when we arrived she came out with so much joy but more then usual. She began to tell us she had just awoken from a dream. In this dream she saw two white sheep, one was old and one was young. The young sheep began to follow her and that is when she woke up. The dream had great significance to her and we believe it represents us missionaries. Now the rest of the dream I'm not sure, but she knew it to be a sign from God. People in Ghana are very special in receiving revelation. They receive it through dreams. Look up the story of Billy Johnson and the many dreams he had in bringing the church to Ghana. Anyway I am absolutely in love with this family and she has a sister whose name is Auntie Penny and she said to me "you have a momma in US and a momma in Ghana:)" Wow it almost brought tears to my eyes. She told me to pray for her hurt leg so she can follow me wherever I go in life:) She even wants me to name my first born after her and give me land to farm coco. Haha I can't complain! They are amazing, and I am just so touched by their family:) We taught the Book of Mormon and Sis Ophilia said she knows this book is going to change her family's life, and she can't even read. There is great power in the Book of Mormon, and for some, all they need to do is hold it to feel of its worth.

My good friend and Zone Leader Elder Azuma told me something I liked this week after discussing being a consecrated missionary. "If you waste your time on mission, The Lord will waste your time when you return." haha I love it!

The church is true. Ghana is beginning to feel like home. The work is starting to envelop my thoughts and my heart. Thank you for your prayers and emails, feel free to send letters as well. I love those. I love you all!

Went on exchanges with the District leader. Our whole apartment, which is a four man, can fit in their living room. And they only have 6 people, haha. Their house is so nice.

A delicious bowl of FUFU with light soup! mmmmmmmmm:)
